Think of how multimedia tool(s) (e.g., PhotoBooth, QuickTime Player, Garage Band, iMovie, or any other multimedia tool that you have used) can be beneficial to students with disabilities in the instructional settings.
Please (1) choose a multimedia tool, and describe (2) the student (grade, disability, etc.), (3) the subject area and specific skill(s) that you would teach, & (4) how the multimedia tool(s) that you chose can "specifically"help the student who has previously struggled without the multimedia tool(s).

Imovie would be a tool that I would use in my classroom that would be beneficial to all students. I would use this to edit and create clips that would be used in the classroom. In my class the students learn from watching videos, so by editing and creating video clips that go along with the content that I am teaching I would be able to help the students learn the material in a meaningful manner. Students would find the movie clips fun and engaging as well. One concept that I taught this year was the force of motion skill, this would be helpful to see a video of the laws of motion for the kids to understand them better.
ReplyDeleteI agree Imovies is a great tool. It allows students to create, and learn more about technology.
DeleteI agree. Force of motion would be fun to teach with Imovie. You could incorporate a lot of things into your movie that would deal with the topic.
DeleteI would teach photobooth to my students. My students would enjoy this. they enjoy taking pictures, also because they are in middle school they are getting into social media which includes taking pictures. This would allow students to edit photos.
ReplyDelete2)The student is in middle school FMD.
3) Life skills teaching students how to use and edit photos for smartphone technology.
4) The student would then be able to communicate with other friends through instagram etc.
I think this would be very fun and motivating to the students.
DeleteI would use i movie for fourth grade students with autism to work on identifying characters and character traits for Reading. This tool will enable me to provide visuals and edit/ create videos that will be specific to traits we are covering as well as making it possible for me to address their cognitive level, interests, and unique abilities. This would make learning obtainable because the content can be relevant to the student and meaningful as well as fun and motivating.
ReplyDeleteiMovie is a great way to engineer lessons for individual students by applying their interest and likes.
DeleteIMovie have so many possibilities to use in the classroom, It could also be used as a motivational tool by allowing the students to create their own video.
Delete1. I would use Imovie because it provides visual and audio information. iMovie allows the teacher to manipulate the information for specific students needs and interest.
ReplyDelete2. The student I would use this multimedia tool for is a 4th grade student who has a functional mental disability.
3. I would use iMovie to model functional skills for the student to help them become more independent (e.g, brushing teeth)
4. iMovie would serve as a model for the student. iMovie will serve as model and show the student the correct method of completing the task.
Great idea! Using this tool with character the student likes would be very motivational!
DeleteI would use imovie in my classroom with a 3rd grade student who is diagnosed with Autism. This student is a visual learner who enjoys spending time on the computer. This feature would allow me to create movies to utilize as visual models for the student in the area of washing hands. The movie could be paused to show each individual step in the task analysis. The move would show the correct way to wash hands and serve as a reminder of what steps to take. This would increase the student's accuracy of the skill by serving as a motivating way to learn.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. I would use this with all ages of students to show basic household and life skills techniques.
DeleteI agree. This is a great idea....a video task analysis.
Delete(1) The multimedia tool that I would use is iMovie. IMovie is a great tool to use to make short step by step videos either teaching a life skill or teaching an actual lesson. My students would really love this. My students love music and videos.
ReplyDelete(2) I currently have 15 students they range from Kindergarten – 8th grade. 6 students are diagnosed with autism, 6 student are FMD, 2 student are MSD, and 1 is Multiple with being diagnosed with CP and visually impaired.
(3) The subject area that I would use IMovie for would be with introducing the math concept of multiplication using arrays. Students could see a video of how to solve the problem and then the video would be paused to let the students to try the problem. If student had trouble with solving the problem they could replay the video.
(4) IMovie would allow the student the opportunity to have a chance to work independently (or with the assistance from an adult or peer) by being able to stop and start to video at their own pace.
The tool I would use is photo booth for an 8th grade female with Autism. This student is able to talk but she chooses not to at school. She sometimes talks to herself in the mirror and LOVES looking at her reflection. I would use this tool for writing. The student can take pictures of herself and classmates and change their appearance to make characters. It can also be used for setting. This student would also enjoy watching herself and it could be used as motivation to read to herself. It could help this student with character development and make her be more social with other students when she takes their pictures. Before this student doesn't interact with others. She also has a hard time understanding settings because the lack of visuals.
ReplyDeleteI really like this idea! The rest of the students in the class would probably love this too.
DeleteI use video modeling in my classroom for many students, so iMovie would be great to use. I would use iMovie for high school students with Autism and FMD. Video modeling would be used to teach functional skills. I also use video modeling for behavior modification.
ReplyDeleteI would use photo booth with a student in grade 14 with Autism. I would take pictures of the student exhibiting positive behavior and edit them. This is something we could work on together, which would be positive reinforcement for the student. The pictures would then be used to make a visual schedule for the student. The schedule would assist him in making positive behavior choices.
